Albert Joseph Bergmooser

Albert Joseph Bergmooser was born February 15, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan. He was one of four children born from the union of Albert and Carrie (Thoma) Bergmooser.
On November 21, 1959, Albert married the love of his life, Joanne Habel, at Christ The Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Lincoln Park, Michigan. Albert's love for his wife was evident in every decision he made thereafter, prioritizing her happiness above all.
Albert was gainfully employed as a factory worker at GM Fisher Body, located at Willow Run. He proudly served the company for thirty-three years; he retired in October of 1990.
Albert had a knack for working on cars, often found tinkering with engines and restoring vehicles to their former glory. His wife often playfully remarked that he was a jack of all trades, a testament to his versatile skill set, though he claimed mastery of none. With his own two hands and help from family and friends Albert built the family home in Carleton in the late 70's leaving Lincoln Park Michigan where he lived with his wife and family since marriage.
For many years, Albert and Joanne spent their winters in the warmth of Ruskin, Florida, a seasonal migration that offered a pleasant contrast to Michigan's cold. Situated off Cockroach Bay Road, their winter home was a place where they enjoyed many walks by the bay.
Albert J. Bergmooser, age 88 of Newport, passed away at his home at 12:20am on Thursday October 30, 2025, surrounded by his family. His passing was preceded by his parents and three brothers: Thomas, James, and Leonard.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his bride of sixty-six years: Joanne; three children: Mark (Shelly) Bergmooser of New Boston, Lori (Jeffrey) Smith of Carleton, and Eric (Heather) Bergmooser of Newport; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather Sunday; November 2, 2025, from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. He will lie in state Monday; November 3, 2025, from 10:00am until 11:00am at Divine Grace Parish- St. Patrick Church; 2996 Labo Road, Carleton, Michigan 48117. A Mass of the Resurrection will take place at 11:00am. A procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe for burial.
