Albert “Al” Ernest Boognl was born in Butte, MT on February 19th, 1951, to Albert Herman Boognl and Edra Blanche Boognl (Constable). He grew up in Butte with his siblings and participated in sports activities. He graduated from Butte High in 1969 and was a member of the 1968/69 state football championship teams. In August of 1974, Al met the love of his life, Mary Alice Hoar. They were married on November 23, 1974. They had two children while living in Montana: Scott Robert Boognl, Albert “Albie” David Boognl. In 1979 Al and Mary moved to Farmington, NM where Al worked as an Iron worker and helped build the power plant. In March of 1980 they welcomed their third son, Adam Kyle Boognl.
While living in Farmington “Big” Al worked at Diamond Vogel Paint and managed the business for over 25 years. He raised his children with love and support. He participated and stayed involved in youth sports as an official and coach.
Al was proceeded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife Mary Boognl of 50 years of wedded bliss. His sons: Scott Robert Boognl, Albert David Boognl (Lori), and Adam Kyle Boognl (Jennifer). Grandchildren: Noah Anderson, Kymber Anderson, Wyatt Boognl, Emily Boognl, and Magdalene “Maggie” Boognl. His siblings: Mike Boognl (Ezora), Pamela Fiskum, Rhonda Rodriguez (Mike) and Sharon Seyller (Dennis). Along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and countless friends.
Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church: 410 N. Allen, on Tuesday November 4th, 2025. Rosary will begin at 930 AM with Catholic Mass at 1000 AM.
