WESTBROOK - Albert Michael Bougie, 66, of 21 Knights Street, Westbrook passed away, Tuesday May 13, 2025. He was born in Portland, the son of Fernand and Carmella (Ledoux) Bougie.
Albert grew up in Westbrook and was an early communicant of St. Anthony of Padua church (St. Hyacinth) Westbrook. He was Baptized at St. Hyacinth by his uncle, Reverend Charles J Ledoux. He enjoyed a typical childhood with a high quality of life and faith formation that his parents provided. He was quite intelligent and thrived in his late teens having completed High School in three years before joining the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked to become a Marine Corps recruiter and excelled at this assignment always beating his induction quotas and reaching the rank of Sargeant.
He attended the University of Maine Farmington for a short period after leaving the Marines until contracting a debilitating illness that would re-direct his life. He was often quoted as saying "Life sometimes doesn't turn out as planned". He was carried through by his Catholic Faith Walk with God and Jesus and a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother. He attended Mass regularly and said his Rosary every evening. He even travelled to the Medjugorje Shrine in Bosnia.
He was predeceased by his parents Carmella F (Ledoux) Bougie and Fernand R. Bougie and sister Celine Y. Bougie.
Albert is survived by his brother Charles Bougie and wife Courtney and their children Jillian Pomeroy (Ryan), Erika Payne (Thomas), Shawn Townsend (Lindsay), Kyle Townsend, Nicholas Rastegar and Rick Townsend(Jessica), his paternal Aunts Rita Grondin, Lorraine Grondin and husband Ronald, Simone Allen and husband Paul and several cousins nieces and nephews.
Albert was a gentle intellectual man who loved his family and his faith. He was also a musician, a talent he largely kept to himself.
There will a 1-hour visitation time at 9:30 a.m. (at the church) followed by funeral Mass celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 30th at St. Anthony's Church, 268 Brown Street, Westbrook. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth Cemetery in late spring.
