Albert Bowdish Obituary

Albert N. Bowdish Jr., age 83, of Brookville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital.

He was born in Brookville on May 6, 1941, to the late Albert N. and Kathryn (Miniam) Bowdish Sr.

Albert graduated from Brookville High School with the Class of 1960. During high school, he also worked at the local G. C. Murphy Store in downtown Brookville. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country with pride, being stationed in Birkenfeld, Germany for three years, where he held the rank of sergeant and worked on the newest radar system.

He went on to attend an Electronic School in Pittsburgh and worked for the U.S. Steel Company also in Pittsburgh, as a technology programmer for 30 years, before his retirement.

Albert married his true love, Jeanne (Hammer) Bowdish on May 17, 2014, at the First Methodist Church in Brookville. She survives. They were happily married for more than 10 years and truly cherished each other and the life they created together.

Albert served as a member of the American Legion Post No. 102 in Brookville and was actively involved with Brookville Honor Guard for many years. He was also a member of the Brookville Fireman's Club and the F.O.E. 983 Brookville Eagles.

Albert enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially taking care of his yard. He took great pleasure in playing both pool and bowling. Most of all, he treasured the numerous trips across the country, traveling with his family.

In addition to his wife Jeanne, Albert is survived by one brother, Edgar (Karen) Bowdish Sr.; two step-children, Michelle (Rick) Streich and Tim (Bobby Wilk) Michael; two nephews, Edgar (Sherri) Bowdish Jr. and Neil (Ashley Zanotto) Bowdish; one niece, Kathryn (Brian) Nelson; great-nieces and nephews, Brandon (Megan) Bowdish, Brittney (Jarrod Woodyard) Bowdish, Olivia Nelson, Karley Nelson and Xhavier Bowdish; great-great-nephew, Gabriel Bowdish; and great-great niece, Evelyn Bowdish.

In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Adrian Bowdish.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carrier Funeral Home, located at 2834 Maplevale Road in Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025, at the funeral home, with Pastor Joe Short officiating.

Military honors will be conducted by the Brookville Honor Guard following the service.

Interment will take place privately at the Richardsville Baptist Cemetery, Warsaw Township, Jefferson County.

Memorial contributions may be made in Albert's name to the American Legion Post 102 Honor Guard, P.O. Box 323, Brookville, PA 15825 or the Brookville First Methodist Church, 205 Jefferson Street, Brookville, PA 15825.
