Albert T. "Al" Campoli, 86, of Elkhart, died on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, at Greenleaf Health Campus in Elkhart.
He was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Elkhart to the late Vito and Chiara (Rossi) Campoli. Also preceding him in death are a sister and brother-in-law, Ida and Dick Antisdel, a brother and sister-in-law, Renaldo "Joe" and Rosemary Campoli, and a brother-in-law, Guido "Guy" Paoletti.
Al was born and raised in Elkhart. He attended St. Vincent School (where he served as an altar boy), Roosevelt Junior High School and Elkhart High School, graduating in 1957.
On June 13, 1959, Al married Janet Paulus at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She survives along with two daughters; Traci (Ken) Kesler of Omaha, NE and Cathi Campoli of Chicago, one son, Tony Campoli of Las Vegas: three granddaughters; Kimberly (Brian) Mulari, Kristina Kesler and Natalia Campoli, one great-grandson, Calvin Mulari; and a sister, Helen Paoletti of Elkhart.
Upon graduating from Barber school, Al worked at Guy Paoletti's shop before starting Al's Barber Shop on South Main Street for many years. He then worked in sales for International Merchandising before his retirement from Kemberly/Atwood. He enjoyed all sports, playing basketball, football and running track while in school. After retirement, he enjoyed meeting with "the guys" at Martin's for morning coffee. He was a former member and officer of the Italian American Relief Association (I.A.R.A.). A member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Al always stayed close to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the church he grew up in and loved.
Visitation for Al will be held on Thursday, Dec. 12, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home where the Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call one hour before the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father Craig Borchard will officiate. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1108 St. Main St., Elkhart, IN 46516 or St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1331 N. Main St., Elkhart, IN 46514.

My brothers and I would walk to Al's shop after school from St. Vincent to get a hair cut. So sorry to hear about his passing. Even though I was young at the time I remember him as a very kind man. Rest in peace.
