Albert Coblentz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cree Funeral Home - Camden on Nov. 11, 2025.
Albert James Coblentz Jr., 95, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 21, 1930, in Berne, Indiana, Albert was the oldest of thirteen children and grew up in a close-knit, hardworking family rooted in faith and love. He later made his home in Lafayette, where he worked for many years in the boiler room at Saint Elizabeth Hospital, eventually serving as the lead fireman. Albert was known for his strong work ethic, steady hands, and warm heart - traits that earned him the respect and friendship of many throughout his life.

Albert was married to the love of his life, Shirley Coblentz, who preceded him in death. Together, they shared a lifetime of devotion and joy. He was the proud father of six children: Larry Coblentz (preceded in death), Judy (Robert) Davis, Cathy (Jeff) Kelly, Jim Coblentz (David Day), Sherry (Mark) Houser, and Karisa (Jeremy) Douglas.

Albert found his greatest joy in his family, especially his grandchildren: Tracie Oden, Justin Shepard, David Coblentz, Jessica Kelly, Tabitha Davis, Kate Kelly, Brittany Glenn, Alex Davis, Gavin and Jocelyn Douglas, Connor Douglas, and Elijah Houser. His legacy of kindness, humor, and strength will live on through them and through the many lives he touched.

He was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought him endless smiles and pride: Tiara Oden, Claire Oden, Jonathan Coblentz, Jordan Coblentz, Jace Albert Bolinger, Andrew Glenn, Brayson Davis, and DehAndre Oden, as well as four precious great-great-grandchildren who carry on his love and legacy.

Albert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley, his son Larry, and many of his twelve brothers and sisters. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, steadfast faith, and the love he shared so freely.
