Albert J. Di Stefano "Big Al", age 90, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3, 2023.
He was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and was the son of the late, Beatrice (Di Piero) and Duilio Di Stefano. Albert graduated from Wilmington High School in 1951 and received an associate degree from Drexel College. He proudly served his country in the US Navy Seabees in the construction battalion.
After his honorable discharge Albert (a carpenter by trade) started working for the Dupont Company in the model shop as a model maker. He retired after 33 years in 1991.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church where he ushered for many, many years. He enjoyed with his cousin Donnie, going to the St. Anthony's Club. He also enjoyed playing golf. With his skills as a carpenter, he was known for the foot-stools and cabinets he made. Bringing Albert his most joy was the time he spent with his family, especially the holidays.
His wife of 67 years, Betty (Cahall) died in 2022. Albert is survived by his son, Albert J. Di Stefano, Jr.; his grandchildren, Anthony and Daniel Di Stefano, David Igo, Christine (Igo) Pertrucci and her husband Jerry; his great-granddaughter, Mia and a brother Dewey Di Stefano and his wife Marsha.
