Albert Giannino Obituary

Albert "Al" J. Giannino passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Born in Syracuse on November 8, 1955 to Michael and Carmelina Giannino, Albert was a graduate of Bishop Ludden High School and went on to study at SUNY Morrisville. He retired after 41 years from Carrier Corp in 2021.
Al was an incredible son, husband, father, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend, but the role that he cherished more than anything was that of Poppa to his two beloved grandchildren. He often would be seen on the sidelines or in the crowd cheering them on. He was incredibly generous with his time and would drop anything to lend a hand to anyone that needed it, never wanting any help in return.
Al was a proud "Founding Father" of Middle Ages Brewery and one of his favorite things to do was sip on an IPA, rocking on his swing listening to his favorite band The Grateful Dead. He was a kind, quirky, wonderful, gentle man and will be missed beyond measure by so many.
Albert is predeceased by his parents and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved great niece.
Albert is survived by his dearest wife, Carolann; loving daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Ted Saroney; cherished grandchildren, Halen and Ryan Saroney; loving brothers, Michael (Maria) Giannino, Thomas (Rosie) Giannino; and adored nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his furry companion, Oliver. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Eller for his compassionate care for the last 21 months.
Calling hours will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Farone & Son, Inc Funeral Home 1500 Park Street, Syracuse. A Mass of Christian Burial  will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles/St. Ann's Church, 501 S. Orchard Road, Syracuse. Burial to follow In Assumption Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Yesterday

Bunny, Heather and family,
I am sorry for your loss. Al and Michael are together again, having their talks of cars, music, family and memories of their past with their friends. Al´s smile was infectious with the gleam in his eyes. Keep the memories in your heart and speak of him often. Oliver will miss him, along with Wegmans! Live, laugh and love like Al would want you to! Take care of yourselves and each other.
Always,
Tricia

One of my favorite memories of Al was when we all gathered around my Christmas Tree at (Glenview Pkwy.) and sang The Twelve Days Of Christmas. Of course we picked Al to sing and a partridge in a pear tree! We were hysterical his voice was so high and loud! What a great moment .
