Albert Gibson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Corsicana on Mar. 16, 2026.
Albert Austin Gibson, Jr., age 86, passed away at home on March 14, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born on December 20, 1939, in Deville, Louisiana, to parents Albert Austin Gibson, Sr. and Zennie Hickman.

Al was a man whose life reflected hard work, determination, and generosity. Though his formal education ended after the ninth grade-he wittingly referred to his education as a life of lessons learned -he possessed an incredible work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit that carried him through a lifetime of success and joy. Beginning around the age of 20, he built businesses through grit and determination. Over the years he operated an acoustical ceiling business, built commercial buildings, invested in real estate, and worked in ranching. He also enjoyed studying and working the stock market.

Al loved to work and was known for having the energy to outwork men half his age. To his family, he was nothing short of a hero. Throughout his life he helped many young people get their start, assisting them in building businesses and purchasing homes. He was independent, self-motivated, kind, generous, and gentle, earning the respect of everyone who knew him. Friends and family also knew that while he worked hard, he often arrived a little late. His best advise to anyone asking about real estate was they are not making more dirt.

In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, caring for animals, and spending time with those he loved. Al lived his life guided by strong values and a caring heart.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Vikki Gibson; his children, Amber Julane Wehbe and husband Nabil, Deanna Gibson Clark, Connie Gibson and husband Koji Lyu, Bryan Quinton Glass and wife Janis, Lindsay Starr Lapierre and husband Michael, and Melissa Ann Noland and husband BJ; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nephews Eric and Scott Gregg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Elvie Arnold Gibson; and his sister, Grace Gregg.

Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin immediately following with Pastor Leon Thomas and Pastor Bobby Rutherford officiating.

Pallbearers will be Nick Wehbe, Jack Wehbe, Bryan Glass, Collin Glass, Benjamin Noland, and BJ Noland.

Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Holloway, Louisiana.

Al will be remembered for his gentleness, generosity, strong work ethic, and the lasting impact he made on his family and those whose lives he helped shape.
