Billy Gibson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by YANDA & SON FUNERAL HOME - YUKON on Mar. 16, 2026.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Billy Wade Gibson, age 64, of Yukon, OK, who departed this life peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, March 7, 2026. He was born on December 18, 1961, in Cushing, OK, to the late Charles and Eva Jo Gibson. Billy was known for his kindness, strength, generosity, and unwavering loyalty as a son, brother, uncle, and friend. As a child, he enjoyed spending countless hours playing outdoors with his brothers, cousins, and neighborhood friends on Maple Street in Drumright, OK. During his later childhood, his family moved several times due to his father's military career. Billy graduated from Ellison High School in Killeen, TX, in 1980. After high school, he attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and later studied TV/Video Production at Oklahoma State University.

In 1985, Billy began his career at Greckle TV Production. After gaining valuable experience, he played a key role in helping launch Tom Park Production. Over his 35-year tenure with the company, he achieved great success and traveled across the United States producing commercials for the automotive industry. During this time, he had the opportunity to meet various notable figures, including the legendary Nolan Ryan. Following changes within the company, Billy chose a slower pace with less travel and most recently worked at Cuff's Express Courier. Throughout his career, he built lasting friendships with colleagues, many of which remained strong over the years.

Billy's love for the outdoors was evident to everyone who knew him. He cherished weekends spent skiing or hiking in the mountains, waterskiing at the lake, fishing, and simply enjoying nature's beauty. He also found joy on the golf course with his dad, brothers, and friends. An avid reader and a fountain of knowledge, Billy was known for his impressive recall of historical facts, sparking many engaging conversations. His enthusiasm for sports-especially OU football-was contagious, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. Beyond watching sports, he supported and encouraged his nieces and nephews by attending their school and sporting events, showing his deep love and pride for his family. A talented photographer, Billy frequently documented cherished family moments, capturing memories to be treasured for a lifetime. He was also an avid animal lover; his dog, Stevie, held a special place in his heart.

Billy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strong faith. He touched the hearts of those around him and will be deeply missed. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, March 20, at Olive Baptist Church, 9372 S. 433rd W. Ave., Drumright, OK beginning at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Humane Society.

We take comfort in knowing that Billy is now resting peacefully, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Kristy Layman of Yukon, OK, and her family; his brothers, Brad Gibson and wife Paula of Guthrie, OK, Blake Gibson and wife Suzy of Yukon, OK, and Barry Gibson and wife Cari of Verdigris, OK; and his sister, Beth Clark and husband Tommy of Seminole, OK. He is also survived by one niece, nine nephews, and a host of extended family members and friends.
