Albert (Al) Raymond Gregory passed away peacefully at the Edith Norse Rogers Memorial Veterans Care Hospital, Memory Care Center, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, on November 7, 2023.
Born and raised in New Bedford, MA, he was the son of the late John Kay and Augusta (Cejka) Gregory. He attended New Bedford Vocational School and later graduated from Massachusetts Industrial Technical School in Boston, MA. He spent 4 years in the United States Navy as a Torpedoman Mate 2nd Class during the Korean War Era. He settled in Littleton, MA, in 1963. He worked 34 1/2 years at MIT Lincoln Laboratory as a Senior Project Technician, until his retirement in 1996.
His interests were woodworking, fife and drum (member of the Acton Minutemen and also marched independently with other fife and drum groups), history, church choir, writing music, cooking Saturday and Sunday breakfast for his family, taking walks outdoors, watching shooting stars, the ocean, collecting Pairpoint and celebrating the seasons. He was a very social person, who loved to tell stories and had a great sense of humor. He was always smiling. Most of all, he loved his family and always made sure they knew it.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bernice Pauline (Mello), his daughter, Lauren Soucy, his son, Andrew and his husband, Anthony Avellar; his granddaughter, Chandra (Soucy) Dunn and her husband, Michael and his grandson, Nicholas Soucy and his 3 great-grandchildren: Caylynne, Aaliyah and Nicholas Jr.; his brother, Robert (Bob) and his wife Judy of East Freetown, MA. He is predeceased by his brother, John Kay Gregory Jr. and also leaves behind his niece and several nephews.
Friends and family will gather and honor Al's life for visiting hours from 4:00pm - 7:00pm on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., Littleton, MA. His Funeral Service will be at 12:00pm on Monday, November 13, 2023 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 164 Newtown Rd, Acton, MA, with burial following at West Lawn Cemetery in Littleton, MA.
