Homegoing for the Life of Albert L Guess
Albert Lee Guess also known as Al, Uncle Albert, Mr Guess, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on October 30, 2025. Born on September 05, 1938 in West, Mississippi to Cleveland and Maggie (Steward) Guess. Albert was a faithful servant for the Lord and active member of First Church for over 60 yrs he loved going to church and being with church family and had an contagious love for his family and friends and anyone that came in contact with him, His legacy will be remembered for years as a Usher, Trustee, Custodian for the church and the Yard man.
On August 6, 1966 Albert married the Sunday School teacher Eula Hopson Guess. Albert knew when he met Eula that he was going to marry her. They built a life together for 59 years and raised three children: Vesta Guess- Thomas, Clayborn Guess, Cassandra Guess.
Albert worked at Chrysler for a short time after leaving there he worked for Freeport School District #145 for 31 years before enjoying a well earned retirement. His favorite pastimes and Hobbies were bowling, cutting grass and helping out family and friends whenever, even if it took him a couple a days. He was a one-man show.
Albert was determined to complete his task with out blemish and if the grass did not look like carpet when he finished he would come back the next day and finish all with a push mower didn't matter how hot it was he was getting it done. Their wasn't any task that he would not finish and make it look beautiful and clean.
Albert was very passionate about bowling and would light up like a Christmas Tree when there was discussion about bowling. His wife would say that was his second home and if we were looking for him all we had to do was call the bowling alley phone number and he would be there. Sometimes he would be the only one in the bowling alley and all the staff knew who he was. He would bowl with his kids, brothers, nephews and friends. Sometimes he would give lessons and then challenge them to bowl against him but he would have to 50 or 60 pins to his score which has always says was his handicap that way he would sure to win. Albert also liked to travel and when he would go out of town or just on vacation to see family he would put his bowling balls in the car along with his luggage they were going to fit no matter what. He would watch bowling on TV and then go to the bowling alley and try to do what he learned. He would also call his son and IF his son suggested something you can believe he was going to practice it until he got IT. Many of his family that he visited always remembers that Uncle Albert is going want to go bowling when he comes to town.
Albert was a true family man and loves his three children,8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. During his employment as a Bus Driver for the school district the kids that rode his bus would declare if you ride his bus Mr Guess don't take no mess. He would you kick off if you acted up and it did not matter if it was Cold or Snow if you didn't sit down as you were told your getting kicked off. There was one instance that he took the entire bus to drop one Kid off at the police station before the route was done just to prove that he meant business.
Albert Leaves behind a legacy. He is survived by his wife, Sister, Children, Eight Grandchildren, five Great grand-children
