Albert Gaylen "Gaylen" Jones

Albert "Gaylen" Jones was born on November 7, 1938, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, to Loy Clark and Evelyn Dolores Jones. On Tuesday, September 30th, at 7:14 p.m., Gaylen went home to be with his Lord and Savior.
Gaylen was the oldest of three children, with a brother, Loy C. Jr.,and a sister, Karen. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
After graduating from Brazosport High School in 1956, Gaylen explored several colleges before answering the call to serve his country. He joined the United States Air Force in 1961, achieving the rank of Airman First Class (E-4), and was honorably discharged on February 23, 1965.
Following his service, Gaylen began his career at Dow Chemical in the magnesium cells division as an instrument technician. Through dedication and hard work, he retired after 32 years as an 1&E Supervisor.
On July 23, 1966, Gaylen married the love of his life, Maurine McMahon Autrey, and together they raised four children. Not long after their marriage, Gaylen felt God's call to ministry and began serving as a men's Bible teacher at First Baptist Church of Sweeny. His service to the Lord grew over the years, and he went on to serve as a Sunday school teacher, music minister at Richwood First Baptist and Brazosport Baptist Temple, and later as associate pastor at Brazosport Baptist Temple. For the past 28 years, he faithfully shepherded Anchor Baptist Church as pastor, leaving a legacy of faith, service, and love for God's Word.
Gaylen is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Maurine Jones; children Robert (Mary Ann) Autrey, Robin (Rick) Ertel, Rhonda (Lonnie) Key, and Rick (Angela) Autrey; grandchildren Michelle, Rachel (Matthew) McDougal, Krista Hebert, Sarah Autrey, John Elliott Autrey, Andrew Hebert, Rebecca (Virgil) Zurita, Beth Ann, Zack (Celeste) Key, and Josh Key; 11 great-grandchildren; his sister Karen; sisters-inlaw Gloria Jones and Margaret Gayle; and many brothers and sisters in Christ who were touched by his ministry and friendship.
A visitation will be held at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute on Saturday, October 11th, from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed immediately by a memorial service.
