Albert M. Kotzur, of McCook, passed away August 15, 2024 at age 83. He was born in Mission, Texas to Susie and Vincent Kotzur on April 4, 1941, one of six children to the couple. Albert grew up on the farm with his parents and siblings in McCook and was one of the first altar servers at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in the community.
After graduation from Edinburg High School, he joined the United States Air Force and served four years at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, California. He was honorably discharged in 1965, and returned home to McCook where he married his high school sweetheart, Bernadine. There they made their home and raised their three daughters.
Albert followed in his father's and grandfathers' footsteps, farming grain sorghum and cotton, both independently and with his brothers, for many, many years. After he retired, he continued gardening and took up woodworking. Many of his pieces have found their way into the homes of his family and friends, as well as his beloved church.
Albert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bernadine; daughters, Natalie (Robert) Moses, Frances (Gary) Keller, and Nancy (Vernon) Doege; sister, Frances Kotzur; grandchildren, Robyn Moses and Sarah (Alec) Winfrey; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Vincent Jr., Gabriel, John, and Katherine.
Albert was a lifelong farmer, a modest man, and a true steward of the land who loved God, family, and life.
