We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Albert Joseph Laperouse, a beloved member of the St. Martinville community.
Albert was a proud veteran who honorably served his country in the United States Army in communications while stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Military Honor Guard, showing his commitment to his country throughout his life.
In addition to his military service, Albert had a passion for various hobbies. He enjoyed fishing with his grandson, brother-in-law Karl, and his father James. He used his carpentry skills to help others by building ramps, house construction with friends and family, and dance props for his girls, as well as, welding special projects and making things to last. Albert loved cooking good barbecue and Cajun food for himself and others. Playing softball at the church, lending a helping hand by cutting grass for those in need of lawn maintenance, and singing or dancing to some good music were ways he connected with others.
Albert touched the lives of many with his kindness, his laughter, and unconditional patriotism. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his daughters, Carrie (Kraig) Laperouse-Lang and Alaina Laperouse; sister, Sheila (Mike) Broussard; grandchildren, Kaiden Lang, Arden Lang, and Honor Lang; aunts, Linda Faye Hulin and Joe Ann Amy; numerous nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Claudia Adams Laperouse.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy Dugas Laperouse; and his sisters, Joyce Sullivan, Evelyn Laviolette, and Cynthia Laperouse.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kraig Lang, Kaiden Lang, Robert Laperouse, Cory Laperouse, Mike "Soupy" Broussard, Luke Broussard.
