He was also the former husband of Genevieve "Jeannie" Mangini.
A master public speaker, Buddy attended BC High School, graduating with the Class of 1957, and later studied at St. Michael's College. His commitment to service was evident through his extensive involvement in numerous organizations. A longtime member of the Kiwanis Division 14, he served as president three times and was honored as a Lieutenant Governor, receiving the prestigious Red Jacket. He was also a past president and member of the East Boston Chamber of Commerce and played a pivotal role in organizing the renowned Columbus Day Parade, a celebrated event that drew crowds from near and far. Buddy was an active member of the Sons of Italy Sempre Avanti, a board member of the K Trust, and a dedicated Knight of Columbus, 2962, Bishop Cheverus 4th Degree. His service extended to the East Boston Social Center, the YMCA, and the Salesian Boys and Girls Club, where he was a guiding presence. He also served as president of the Sacred Heart Church board in East Boston and was a committed member of the Democratic Ward Committee. Buddy's life was defined by his passion for community, his love for bringing people together, and his unwavering dedication to public service. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, leadership, and commitment to East Boston and beyond.
