ALBERT EDMUND MAUS, 82, passed away at his home Sunday morning, October 2, 2022, after an extended illness.
Albert was born in Queens, New York and came to live fulltime in the Georgetown area in 2000 coming from Cherry Plain, New York. He attended vocational school and in 1957 he graduated as a plumber. Also, in 1957 he was invited to try out for right field with the Brooklyn Dodgers and again in 1958 which was the year they moved to Los Angeles. He served his country in the US Army from 1963 to 1965. Following his tour of duty, he worked as a Union plumber and retired in 1995. He was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where he was involved as an usher and served as president of St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He built the food pantry at the church from the ground up and also helped build the thrift shop. He prepared backpack lunches for underprivileged kids and was a literacy volunteer. He really enjoyed reading to children.
He and his wife, Elizabeth would have celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary on October 28th.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lisa Kutzer of North Greenbush, New York; sons Michael (Beth) Maus of Coeymans, New York and James Maus of Cherry Plain, New York; grandchildren, Colin, twins Cameron and Christian, Vincent and another set of twins, Noelle and Quinlan.
