Albert James Nelson 86, of Ridgeland, SC died Thursday, December 18th, 2025, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Neptune and Mary Nelson of Ridgeland, South Carolina; brothers, Neptune Nelson of Charleston, South Carolina and Jacob Nelson of New York, New York; sisters, Beatrice Bailey of Beaufort, South Carolina and Vivian Wise of Lady's Island, South Carolina; son, Tyrone Alexander Nelson and grandson, Lonnie Black, IV.
Albert leaves behind two loving children, Sandra Marie Black of Ceres, California and Albert Nelson, Jr (wife, Joyce) of Charlotte, North Carolina; one granddaughter, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grands; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Although born in Newark, New Jersey and raised in Ridgeland, South Carolina, Albert left at an early age to adventure life in the big city of New York. There he lived, married, and worked, until retiring and returned home to Ridgeland in 1974. Once home, he joined his sister Beatrice in entrepreneurship of the Busy Bee Cleaning Service on Hilton Head, South Carolina. He again retired in 2000. Albert was a proud member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Yemassee, South Carolina.
Albert was a loving, compassionate person who always was willing to help someone. He will be deeply missed by the four generations of family he leaves behind. His family and friends will miss him also.
The family would like to extend a special appreciation to Omar Senior, who was like a son, and Robin Simmons of Ridgeland, South Carolina.
Due to the holiday season, there will not be a home-going service. However, there will be a viewing and prayer service 5:00 pm--7:00 pm, Monday, December 22, 2025 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland.
