Albert Pellicciotti Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home on Oct. 23, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Albert "Al" Rocco Pellicciotti, 90, of Vestal, NY, entered his eternal resting place in heaven on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, joining his beloved wife, Carol who died in November 2024. Al passed peacefully, surrounded by his devoted and loving family at Mercy House of the Southern Tier.
Al was the first-born son of an Italian family growing up in Binghamton and served as the traditional patriarch for decades. In his younger years, Al was a talented athlete excelling in basketball, he graduated from Harpur College and served in the US Army during the Korean War. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Carol. Al was immensely proud of Carol, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a man of great faith and devoted to his family. Al enjoyed lifelong friendships with his neighbors, co-workers and especially the Italian "Lunch Bunch" crew of childhood friends.
Al was a class act to all who knew him. He was known for his commitment to meticulous care in every area of his life: his faith, his marriage, his children, his parents and extended family, his career at IBM, his health, his lawn and his love of cars. Al was known to be one of the best dressed men around. He remained physically fit and dedicated to his health well into his 80s proving what a lifetime of fitness can do. A natural problem solver and brilliant organizer, Al was generous with his time, attention and advice. He lived by the principles of honesty and fairness, and was direct and assertive -there was no mincing of words with Al.
His actions demonstrated his values, including nightly family dinners, weekly church attendance, prioritizing time for his parents and extended family, and attending family sporting events and activities. Affectionately known as Sonny, Burt, and Big Al, he also had a knack for giving clever nicknames to his family and friends. Music filled his life. His beautiful singing voice was a constant joy as was his finger tapping to the beat of a song, even just days before he passed.
On Al's behalf, we want to thank the staff at Willow Point who cared for him during these past 2 years and more recently, those with him at Mercy House during the last week of his life.
Al was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol and his loving family: parents, Edward and Marie Pellicciotti; special Uncle Corey Pellicciotti; in-laws, Joseph and Beatrice Murray; brothers, Edward (Toppy) and Robert Pellicciotti, sister and brother in-laws: Marlyn Farrell Wilson (Jerome, Ken); Barbara Kuklis (Ernie); Dr. Donald Murray (Denise) and many special aunts and uncles.
Al is survived by his four children, Michael (Nancy); Mark; David (Cathy); Maria and Mark Papa.
Al is also survived by many adored grandchildren: John, Andrew (Alison); Corey (Kaitlin); Henry (Alisha); Jacob, Jessica, Madeline, Gina (Jimmy); Holly (Anthony). His large group of great grandchildren: Sophia, Nicolette, Adeline, Aiyanna, Jacklyn, Amari, Connor, Edelyn, Harlow, Nora, Mia, Cobie and Callie, and the twins: Leo and Lilia. He is also survived by his nieces, Andrea Pellicciotti (Stephen Askew) and Juliette Askew and sister-in-law, Susan Hendery, cousins and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent DePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, 465 Clubhouse Road, Vestal, on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormick Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street Binghamton, Sunday, October 26 from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy in Al's memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Ave. Endicott, NY 13760
