Albert (Al) Frank Schmale Jr

Age 74, Died October 22, 2025 in his home in West Jordan, UT surrounded by his family. Born August 1, 1951 Tacoma Washington to Albert Frank Schmale & Lillian Marcell Nunn Schmale

Proceeded in Death by his father, mother Lillian Marcell Nunn Schmale and his wife LaRena Lee Long Schmale.

Al was raised by a single mother who taught him to be self reliant, strong, hard working and dedicated to his family. He graduated from South High School in 1969. He had a son with a previous relationship who was given up for adoption. He later re-connected with his son Chad and enjoyed getting to know the man he became, though he wished he could have done more. He started working as a driver for Napa Auto Parts out of High school while he completed some college courses. He spent most of his life climbing the ladder of the auto parts industry where he later became an owner of the Napa in Tooele, UT for almost 15 years before he retired. He met the love of his life LaRena Lee Long in 1983 and they later married on January 9, 1987, and helped raise her 3 children whom he considered his own. Al was the life of the party and an excellent host when it came to BBQ's and gatherings. He loved foosball, and he loved dancing & would try to get anyone to dance with him. He loved the Beatles and would play music at a decibel that wouldn't allow you to hear anything but the music. He enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz, building model cars and sailing on his sail boat on the Great Salt Lake, even though that was for a short time. He loved to watch Sci-Fi and even got some of his grandkids to watch them when they were young. Al would open his door to anyone and give the shirt off his back for anybody that needed it. He will be missed immensely.

He is survived by his children Tina Archuleta, Neil Powell, Karri Burgener (BJ Burgener), Chad Dunford, his grandchildren, Courtney Berchtold, Taylor Burgener, Connor Burgener, Carson Powell, Vincent Dutton, Carter Powell, Oakley Dutton and great-grand daughter Ivy Berchtold and many other family and friends.

Viewing will be held at Memorial Murray Mortuary on October 31st 10 am 5850 S 900 E Murray, UT 84121 and Graveside Services at 11:30 at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
