ALBERT J. SOMRACK age 96, beloved husband for 67 years of Stefi (nee Silc); loving father of Denise D'Angelo (husband Drew, deceased) and Danielle Kretch (husband Bruce); devoted grandfather of Alyssa Beerger (husband Zach), Salvatore D'Angelo (fiancé Sarah Raemer), and Kyle, Alec, and Chase (Claire Burkett) Kretch; cherished son of the late Anton and Anna (nee Bradac); dearest brother of the late Anthony, Adolph, Ann Kronik, Alberta Jarc, and Frank; brother-in-law of Darlene and Ben Giaimo; Godfather of William Kotchkoski, M.D; dear uncle and great-uncle of many. U.S. Army Korean Conflict Veteran.
Albert was born July 18, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Collinwood High School in 1948 and went on to serve in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Albert was a hard worker and opened his own restaurant, coined Albie's Place. He was a member of the Pensioners and the SNPJ, which was his happy place. He was an avid reader and enjoyed polka dancing, coin collecting, and traveling. Albert was a gentleman with a pure heart and great sense of humor. Easy going and kind, he was a proud Slovenian who honored his heritage. Albert is remembered for his kind spirit and devotion to his family and faith.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Albert to Hospice of Western Reserve, 17876 Saint Clair Ave, Cleveland, OH 44110, American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284, or St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 32114 Vine St, Willowick, OH 440956, at 1 PM. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Albert at THE ZEVNIK-COSIC FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) TUESDAY MORNING 11 AM - 12 PM.
