Funeral Services for Albert Vernon Stewart Jr., 62, of Albuquerque, NM will be held on April 19th, 2025 at Navajo Brethren in Christ Mission, 240 Hwy 57, Bloomfield, NM. Pastor Sean O'Connor of First Nations Gathering will hold the service.
Albert passed on April 12th, 2025 in Albuquerque, NM surrounded by close family. Albert was born on July 29th, 1962 to Gladys (Wero) Stewart of Nageezi, NM and Albert Stewart of Black Rock, AZ. Albert was Naakaii Dine’é (Mexican People Clan), born for the Kiowa people. His maternal grandfather was Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Rock People) and his paternal grandfather was Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). Albert was born on the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, NM and resided in Nageezi, Phoenix, and Albuquerque. He attended Navajo Mission, graduated from Gallup High School and Crownpoint Institute of Technology (Navajo Tech). After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served during the 1982 Lebanon War.
Most of his working life, he worked as a laborer. He enjoyed painting and drawing and listening to music. He was also a loving uncle, cousin, and friend, who was always happy to help others and spend time with his nieces and nephews. Albert also supported in caretaking for his mother when she became an elder.
Albert is survived by his sister Beverly Stewart and brother Edmond Stewart; Nieces Jaime Gloshay, Lauren Cramer, and Stephanie Stewart; Nephews Seth Gloshay and Reese Stewart; Grandchildren, Patrick Higgins, Eve Engles, Taygen Young, Ava Engles, and Dakota Cramer. He is preceded in death by his mother Gladys Stewart of Nageezi, father Albert Stewart of Black Rock, and brothers Edwin Stewart and Franklin Stewart. Gravesite services will be on Saturday, April 19th, 2025 at Navajo Brethren in Christ Mission in Bloomfield, NM at 12 pm with lunch served following services. Pallbearers will be Seth Gloshay, Reese Stewart, Patrick J. Higgins, Setan Chavez, Santana Chavez, and Marc Cramer.
Daniels Family Funeral home is managing arrangements. If attending, please wear navy blue. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated and being accepted by his niece Lauren Cramer.
