In Loving Memory of Lawrence Castillo “Lencho”

August 21, 1987 – February 25, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the tragic passing of our beloved Lawrence, who was taken from us on February 25, 2026. His loss has left a void in our hearts that can never be filled.

Lawrence was a lifelong resident of Bernalillo, New Mexico, where he was known and loved by many.

Lawrence was known for his big heart, warm smile, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. He had a way of making people feel welcome, accepted, and valued. If someone needed help, Lawrence was there — no questions asked. He lived with generosity, laughter, and a spirit that brought light into every room. Lawrence was also a very talented artist. He had a creative soul and expressed himself through his artwork, leaving behind pieces that reflect his heart and individuality.

He was a former employee of the New Mexico Department of Transportation (DOT), where he worked for many years and built lasting friendships. He took pride in his work and in providing for his family.

He loved and cherished his children, Destiny and Lawrence Jr., who were the absolute center of his world. He loved them beyond measure and was incredibly proud to be their dad. His love extended deeply to his family and friends, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He also adored his loyal dog, Stinky, who was always by his side.

Lawrence was the cherished son of Jose and JoAnne Jaramillo. He was a loving brother to Melanie, Jasmine, and Freddie. He was also a proud uncle and Godfather to his nephew, Julian, who held a very special place in his heart. He is also survived by his grandmother, Emelda Rodriguez, and his Godparents, Tom and Margaret Lucero.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fermin and Leonor Castillo; his grandmother, Cecilia Montoya; his aunt, Bernice Castillo; and his uncle, Lalo Trujillo.

He was the biggest fan of the San Francisco 49ers. Win or lose, he stood by his team faithfully. Sundays were for football, cheering loudly and sharing that passion with everyone around him.

He will be greatly missed by all his family, including numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended relatives, and countless friends whose lives he touched.

Though his life was taken far too soon, the love he gave and the memories he created will live on in all of us. We will forever remember his smile, his laughter, his loyalty, and the way he showed up for the people he loved.

Lawrence will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Rest peacefully, Lawrence. Your light will continue to shine through all of us.
