Albert Rand Tharp
October 24, 1965 – December 9, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Albert Rand (Randy) Tharp, 58, of Valley. Randy passed away on December 9th, 2023 after a short illness, in his home surrounded by his loved ones.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karissa Kirby Tharp; his daughter, Amber Tharp; his daughter and son-in-law, Aubryn and Patrick Shivers; grandsons, John Patrick and Blade Shivers; loyal sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Henry Hawkins; and big brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Robin Tharp, all of Valley. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Beverly Tharp.
Randy was born in Dothan, Alabama on October 24, 1965. He moved around quite a lot during his childhood, briefly living in Fairfax, Alabama as a teenager and then eventually settling back there where Valley, Alabama became his home. He worked for Knology/W.O.W. for over 22 years, starting out as an installer for cable TV and phone. Then he became the lead internet technician and finally, ended his career there as a logistic technician for the W.O.W business.
Randy was known for his fun personality, quirky wit, and friendly nature; he never met a stranger and loved to make people laugh. He was kind-hearted with a generous soul, always quick to help others in a time of need, whether you were a friend, family member, or a complete stranger. Randy loved his family first and foremost. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. We will miss his crazy sense of humor and even his corny jokes. While we mourn his passing, we will also celebrate his amazing love and life.
A private ceremony will be held for family and close friends at a later date.
