Albert G. Yazzie passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025, surrounded by his youngest daughter and grand-daughter. He was born December 28, 1939 in Tohatchi, New Mexico to Zonnie Yazzie and Elsie Bell of Naschitti, NM.

After graduating high school in Albuquerque, he went to a trade school in Chicago, IL and became a welder. Chicago was where he met his wife and married her, Elizabeth Norberto from Nageezi, NM; they were married for 41 years. He had two daughters and later blessed with four grandchildren.

After completing his training, he began working for BIA Roads in Fort Defiance, AZ and later transferred to Farmington, NM. He retired after 35 years of service. He was a devoted Catholic, husband, father, and grandpa. He will be greatly missed by his daughter and grandchildren who cared for him daily and his cats.

He is survived by his daughters, three grandchildren, three sisters, Marie R. Begay and Evelyn Billy, both of Naschitti, and Helen Begay of Kirtland, numerous nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, a granddaughter, 5 brothers, 2 of which were Navajo Code Talkers, Ernest and Harrison Yazhe, and his parents.

A rosary and funeral mass will be held in on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church beginning at 10:30 a.m. with a rosary and funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Yazzie will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Begay, Roger Billy, John Eagleman, Rick Eagleman Honhongva, Gerald Thomas, and Matthew White. Honorary pallbearers will be all his nephews. Cope Mortuary is entrusted with arrangements.
