Alberta Marie Anthony, age 86 of Teague Avenue, King City, Calif. passed away peacefully at her home on December 24, 2025. Her son and Daughter were lovingly by her side.
Alberta was born on October 22, 1939 in Salinas, Calif. She would work and live her entire life in the Salinas Valley. She was born the second daughter to Albert E. and Rosalie G. Thayer of Greenfield, Calif. The Thayer's were a founding family of Clark Colony, later renamed Greenfield.
Alberta enjoyed growing up mostly barefoot on the family farm and dairy. Being outdoors, in the sun and the wind, playing with the calves and jumping from old hay wagon to hay wagon with her siblings were favorite childhood memories. As a youth she especially liked 4-H, riding horses for miles and going to summer camps with the Greenfield Methodist Youth Group. She attended Greenfield Grammar School and then King City High School. Both she and her sister Bertha both graduated with the class of 1957. She enjoyed participating in many sports and especially archery when she could over shoot, having to go retrieve arrows in the stadium when football practice was happening. She was also involved in GAA and Rainbow Girls. After receiving her AA Degree at Hartnell College she became employed in banking at Salinas Valley Savings and Loan in Salinas. She worked in Banking for 20 years. In that time she worked on the mobile unit of the bank that would travel and be stationed each day in a different town down the valley.
In 1969, Alberta married Robert "Bob" Anthony of Teague Ave, King City. She then became a farmer and ranchers' wife. Together they would enjoy hunting, sport fishing, hosting pheasant hunts on the ranch, riding horses to gather cattle, waterskiing at the lake, time with friends and traveling to Mexico and throughout Europe. Later in life, she would become a proficient fly fisherwoman. Bob preceded her in death in 2010. Alberta enjoyed living the rest of her life on her hill on Teague Avenue.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her brother, William "Bill" Thayer (Kathie). She is survived by the following; her children, Allan Wayne Jones and Lisa Marie Sutherland (Kurt); her beloved Sister, Bertha Rosalie Israel; stepsons, Alan (Myra), Robert (Cyndee), and Randy Anthony. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Alberta was known as "Gramma Pickle" to her grandchildren, Mikayla Whited (Colton) and Joshua Sutherland (Kristyna); and great grandchildren, Theodore, Felicity, Alexander, Marigold, Judah and Jeramiah. All were whom she adored. She will be remembered with great love and affection.
