Alberta Louise Baker, affectionately known as Bert, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026. Born Alberta Gephart on November 30, 1935, in Dayton, Ohio, she lived a life marked by dedication, resilience, and a lively spirit that resonated with all who knew her.
A proud graduate of Fairmont High School, Alberta devoted many years of her working life to Northmont Schools as a lunch lady, where her strong-willed and ornery nature was well known and often admired. She served with commitment and heart, retiring when the pandemic impacted daily life, closing a significant chapter of her career but never diminishing her spirited presence.
Away from her professional efforts, Bert enjoyed a full and active personal life. She cherished camping trips with her friends and family, fostering joyful memories amid the great outdoors. Her love for puzzles reflected her keen mind and determination, while she found comfort and entertainment in watching television during quiet moments. Equally beloved was her loyal companion, Duke, whom she cared for with tender devotion.
Bert’s passing leaves a void in the lives of her loving family members and friends, who remember her not only for her unwavering will and ornery charm but also for the warmth and strength she offered them every day.
As friends and family gather in remembrance, Bert’s life stands as a testament to endurance, love, and the vibrant spirit of a remarkable woman. Her legacy will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know her.
