ALBERTA MARTIN BROOKS

Alberta Martin Brooks, age 93, entered peacefully into eternal rest at her residence on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. She was a native of Vacherie, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Alberta was a graduate of L. B. Landry High School. She retired from Charity Hospital after over 40 years as a Nutritionist and Dietary Supervisor. Beloved wife of the late Herbert Brooks. Devoted mother of Adrell Brooks (Kermit Sr.) Gray. Cherished grandmother of Kermika Gary, Kernicka Gary, and Kermit Gary, Jr. Great grandmother of Creagan Davis, Jah’lil, Joy and Joshua Labeaux. Daughter of the late Joseph and Elnora Wheeler. Loving sister of Moweaner (Abby) Green, Viola (Robert) Hensley, Vera Mae (Clarence) Marshall, Alvin (Faith) Martin, Stanley Bolds, and the late Willie Martin, Joseph Wheeler, Jr., and Dorothy Martin Adams. Sister-in-law of William (Lillian) Edward, Abram McGull, Barbara Cerf, Daisy King, and Joycelyn Martin; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1509 Monroe Street, Gretna, LA on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Orin Grant, Sr., officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
