Alberta L. D'Amato, 89, of Brookfield, passed away on January 3, 2026 at Danbury Hospital. Born in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Josephine (D'Ambrosio) and Anthony Badalamenti.
Alberta was predeceased by her husband Gerald D'Amato.
She is survived by her loving children; Jeannine (Charles), Anthony, Nicole (Matthew), Tomasina (Frank), and Damianne (Justin). Her grandchildren; Sara, Carolyn, Peter, Michael, Giovanna, Francesca, Nicholas, Josephine, and Julianna. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Alberta attended the Central School of Needle Trades which later became the High School of Fashion Industries in New York. Through her sewing and crafting projects she showed everyone that it is possible to create beauty amid chaos.
Alberta was a member of the Good Shepherds Society and generously cooked for the H.O.P.E. Community Kitchen providing meals for those in need. Throughout her life she devoted herself to helping others. She listened and did not judge. She welcomed everyone with an open heart and a warm smile. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity.
The family will receive friends at Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, CT on Wednesday, January 7, from 3 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, January 8 at St. Joseph Church, 1 Obtuse Hill Road, Brookfield, CT. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY. A luncheon will follow at Louie and Johnny's 887 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to HOPE Community Services.
