Alberta Joyce Meyer

Alberta Joyce Meyer passed into the loving arms of her Savior and Lord on September 28, 2025 in Runge, Texas at the age of 78. She was born to Henry and Emma Waltersdorf Smart in Kenedy, Texas on July 3, 1947.

Joyce and her husband, Chester, lived in Port Lavaca, Texas where they worked and raised their two sons up until retirement in 2004 when they moved back to Runge. Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Emma Waltersdorf Smart; husband, Chester Lee Meyer; and sister, Betty Fogle.

She is survived by her children Kenneth Meyer and John Meyer of Runge, Texas; her grandsons, John J. Meyer (Bri) of Ganado, Derick Meyer of Runge; granddaughter, Kristy Meyer Torres (Johnathon) of Runge; great-grandsons, Grayson Torres and Ridge Meyer; great-granddaughter, Braelynn Torres; siblings, Clarence Smart (Margie) of Nordheim; sisters, Lois Remmers of Cuero, Virginia Buesing (Laverne) of Yorktown, and Joann Henderson (Billy) of Brownwood. She also leaves behind her beloved pet, Little Bit, who never left her side. Joyce will be remembered by her beloved nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Rhodes Funeral Chapel in Runge. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2nd, also at Rhodes Funeral Chapel in Runge. Interment will follow at the Runge City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Wesley Ledwik, Clarence Smart Jr., Brian Arigullin, Daylyn Arigullin, Raymond Arigullin, and Kevin Buesing. Honorary pallbearer, Derick Meyer.
