Albertine Mac Iver Obituary

Allie was predeceased by her beloved husband Doug in 2022. They met as students at Bishop Union High School and married at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Bishop on August 8, 1953. A joint burial service of Allie's and Doug's ashes will occur at 11 a.m. on October 11, 2025, at Bishop's Pioneer Cemetery on W. Line St. They are survived by their daughter, Yaney; their sons, Douglas (Martha) and Andrew (Brenda); Allie's sister Charlotte, their sister-in-law, Jean, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
Doug was a geologist and environmental engineer at Southwestern Portland Cement and a Christian leader on the session at Church of the Valley in Apple Valley. His leadership during the Civil Rights Movement had lasting impacts by uniting many churches of the High Desert across racial and denominational lines to offer summer bible school for children and teens, Head Start for preschoolers, and a literacy program for adults not fluent in English. Allie helped make these civil rights initiatives possible by welcoming its leaders to dinner (planning meetings started at the table after dinner) and by helping provide snacks, meals and transportation for participants in these programs. She was also a devoted participant and an occasional leader in the church's Women's bible study groups, prayer circles, potlucks, fundraisers, cookbooks, and was also an enthusiastic election judge in her local precinct. Both Allie and Doug earnestly loved their friends, family, neighbors, and associates and prayed for them regularly, rejoicing with those who rejoiced, and suffering with those who suffered.
