Alberto Aponte, age 76 and a life resident of Lorain, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025 at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus after a brief illness.
Alberto was born September 29, 1948 in Cayey, Puerto Rico and moved with his family as an infant to Lorain where he remained. He was a 1966 graduate of Admiral King High School. Alberto was employed at the former United States LSteel, Lorain Works, and retired as a crane operator after 30 years of employment. During his lifetime he enjoyed fishing, hunting, all types of music and was an avid Cleveland sports fan. In retirement he volunteered at Meals on Wheels and was a translator at the Nord Center.
Survivors include his three children, Mada Aponte of Lorain, David Aponte of Lorain and Alyson Mosley (Nick) of Lorain, five grandchildren; Adam Aponte, Jade Aponte-Ardo, Maverick Mosley, Walker Mosley, Reese Mosley, great grandson Alex Aponte, his brother Harold Aponte of Florida, and sister Zulma Shimkus (Edward) of New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his parents Adalberto and Margarita Alvardo Aponte.
Family will receive friends at the Andras Crematory & Funeral Home, 3900 Broadway Avenue, Lorain, on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 5-8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m., on
Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Telepak officiating.
