Alberto "La Guera" Mares Castillo was a loved man, devoted son, loving father, adoring grandfather, loyal brother and "the life of the party". He passed away peacefully of natural causes at home the place he cherished, alongside his beloved mother, family and friends.
Guera had a gift for turning ordinary moments into unforgettable stories. He lived life to the fullest. He didn't hold back and never took any moment for granted. He showed us what it meant to truly live, to show up, to laugh and to embrace life as it comes.
Guera was known for his big heart, kindness and generosity to everyone. To the point he would give the shirt off his back. He gave his time, support and presence freely. Helping others wasn't something he did for recognition; it was simply who he was.
One of the greatest loves of his life was his mother (Celia) alongside his wife Rosario. The love he had for his mother was like no other; He often said he would never leave her. And in the most meaningful way, he kept that promise. The love they shared saw no end, a love that will surpass eternity and beyond.
He leaves behind his one and only true love Gordis, which he loved until his last breath, three sons, daughter, whom he loved deeply and three grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy. His five siblings, family, cousins, and many friends.
Guera siempre sera recordado por su generosidad, alegria y su habilidad de hacer sentir a todos como en familia. Guera fue una persona con un corazon enorme y mucho amor para dar. Te vamos a extrañar. No es un adios sino un hasta luego.

He is preceded in death by his father, Florentino Mares.
He is survived by his mother, Celia Castillo Mares; wife, Rosario DeLeon; sons, Alberto DeLeon, Robert DeLeon and wife Linda, Daniel Camacho; step daughter, Priscilla DeLeon; brothers, Juan Mares, Jorge Mares; sisters, Delia Martinez Mares and husband Joel, Maria (Lupe) Mares Casali and husband Phil, Nancy Campbell and fiancé Carlos Molina; grandchildren, Aalyah DeLeon, Ariel DeLeon, King DeLeon and many other loving family and friends.
