Albin Haas, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025. Born on June 2, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, Albin lived a life defined by craftsmanship, dedication, and unwavering love for his family.

A proud graduate of Brooklyn Automotive, Albin was an exceptional mechanic and the respected owner of several neighborhood repair shops. Known for his honesty, skill, and warm demeanor, he became a trusted figure in his community-someone the community could count on not just for repairs, but for kindness and conversation. His lifelong passion for cars was matched only by the pride he took in his work and the relationships he built through it.

Beyond the garage, Albin poured his talents into his cherished home, working tirelessly inside and out to create a space filled with care, quality, and character. At that home, he hosted countless gatherings for friends and family through the years. He had a passion and skill for finding bargains and antiques, loved to travel, and relished his weekly dinners at Branchinelli’s. But his greatest joy was found in the company of those he loved most.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Terry, and their children--Michael Haas; Susan Degen and her husband, Chris; and Theresa McKenna and her husband, Edward. Albin adored his grandchildren—Matthew (and his wife, Kim), Kyle (and his wife, Marissa), Michael, and Andrew—and found boundless delight in his great-grandchildren, Alison and Benjamin. He was a cherished dad, PopPop, and Poppy, and loved to help his family with projects and to share his knowledge.

Albin was predeceased by his parents, Anna and Albin, and his brother, Harry. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy will continue through the family he so deeply cherished.

In honor of Albin’s generous spirit, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. www.stjude.org
