Alci is survived by her only son Oscar N. Pereira, daughter-in-law Mary Elizabeth Cedillo-Pereira, granddaughters Amanda Pereira, Gabriela Pereira, and grandson Oscar S. Pereira.

Alci is survived by her brother's children Marlene Velasquez Sedito, Lilian Velasquez Garris, Carlos Velasquez, Louis Velasquez and, and Karla Velasquez Jacoby.
Alci was as unique and sophisticated as her name. Born in 1926 and raised in a family of strong, independent women, she learned resilience, hard work, and ingenuity from an early age. Her mother, Antonia, worked as a dressmaker requiring her to travel across the townships of Barranquilla, while Alci grew up with her tías, tío, brother Alcides, and primas hermanas. A serious student, she graduated from the Escuela de Comercio de Barranquilla in 1945 and was employed at the Cooperativa Lechera de Barranquilla, where she met and married accountant Hector Pereira, and gave birth to her beloved son, Oscar.
Alci divorced and moved with her son aged four, to Bogotá, Colombia to seek better job opportunities and join other family and friends there. Her brother Alcides who had immigrated to the United States in early 1960s sponsored Alci to immigrate to the U.S., arriving in Miami, Florida in 1964 and settling in Paterson, NJ, where her prima hermana Nohra lived with her son Xavier and her newly born twins Carlos and Angelina Franco.
Alci worked in the garment and electronics industries and attended English classes to build a new life and, become a US citizen on the 200th Anniversary of the United States in 1976. She invested her dreams in her only son, supporting him through high school and college, as he became a mechanical/aeronautical engineer.
In April of 1978, Alci married Alfonso Espitia, surrounded by their families and friends in New Jersey. Alfonso was a good-hearted Colombian, retired widower with five adult children. Their marriage was short lived because Alfonso passed in October of 1978. However, their union brought true love and joy to Alci until her passing. She cherished being Alfonso's wife and stepmother to Alfonso's children. In 1981, Alci moved to San Diego, CA to live near by her son. In 2001, Alci moved to Fort Myers, FL to be near her brother Alcides, residing at the New Approach Condominiums where she was embraced and looked after by many wonderful neighbors in the community.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, stepmother, second mother to nieces, nephews, and the children of friends who loved her. Guided by a deep faith in God and unwavering devotion to the Blessed Mother, she faced life's challenges with grace and strength. Alcira was elegant, charming, and a woman ahead of her time-an adventurer, fiercely loyal, deeply caring, and endlessly resilient. She embodied her name:
Adventurous – Embracing new experiences with courage.
Loyal – Faithful and devoted to others.
Caring – Showing love and kindness
Inspirational – Leading through selflessness and sacrifice.
Resilient – Standing strong through challenges.
Artistic – Expressing creativity in unique ways such as dancing her favorite cumbia, La Pollera Colora.
She also leaves to cherish her memory a considerable number of the paternal and maternal family members and friends with whom she shared her life experiences in Colombia, and United States. Those experiences included cooking, traveling, sewing, singing, dancing, exercising, giving health tips, charity work, being devout, faithful, loving, and joyful. She leaves a legacy of wonderful memories to everyone who knew her.
A funeral mass service will be held in Dallas, Texas at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Thursday March 6, 2025, at 10:00AM.
A final funeral mass service will be held in Fort Myers, Florida at The Church of the Resurrection on Friday March 14, 2025, at 12:30PM. Alci will rest at the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery alongside her mother Antonia Constante.
