Alda Botbyl Obituary

Born in Gowen City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Arfie (Hornberger) Weikel.
Alda was a graduate of Shamokin High School, class of 1949. Following high school, Alda went on to marry Donald and care for her family and her home. Prior to moving to Quarryville, she was an active member of Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Pole Tavern, NJ. In recent years she worshipped at Bethany Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Oxford, PA. Alda enjoyed gardening, and she was known for having a gift of hospitality, hosting many at her home for a meal.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Reutlinger, wife of Karl, of Carlisle; sons, Donald Botbyl, husband of Linda, of Gordonville, and Kevin Botbyl, husband of Cheryl, of Newark, DE; grandsons, Nathan and Matthew Reutlinger; granddaughters, Margaret and Irene Botbyl; and great-granddaughter, Faye Marie Reutlinger. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Gilbert, Eugene, Lamar, and Glenn Weikel, and sisters, Rena Kerstetter, Madalyn Weikel, and Bernice Pederson.
A Memorial Service for Alda will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024, in the Ellingsworth Auditorium of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, 625 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA 17566, with a time to visit with the family from 10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Please use the Long Building Entrance.
Prior to the service, all are invited to Alda's interment at Quarryville Cemetery on Saturday, December 21, at 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Alda's memory to the Kinsman Fund of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, 625 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA 17566 (please make checks payable to "QPRC" and write "Kinsman Fund" on the memo line).
