Alden Francis "Chris" Crecelius USN, Ret.

Alden F Crecelius of Great Mills, MD passed away peacefully on Sunday November 2, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Alden was born in Battletown, Ky to the late Minnie and Craig Crecelius. Alden was married to his loving wife Sarah for 66 years.

After Attending Meade County High School, Alden joined the United States Navy August of 1947, where he proudly served for 23 years. While serving in USN he performed a variety of duties and was stationed and traveled around the country and world proudly fulfilling his duties. Alden was very proud of his accomplishments while in the Navy. He retired from the Navy in 1969.

After retiring from the Navy, he went on to have a successful career in the civil service on Patuxent Naval Base. Working as an electrician and many other roles finally retiring in 1993 as a supervisor for the maintenance department on the Naval Base.

After retiring Alden kept busy traveling with his wife (Sarah) to many parts of the world and country. He volunteered many hours to his church and to the Shriners Hospital. He would drive a bus to Philadelphia taking children for their much needed treatment, making over 122 trips, numerous hours, for this he received awards for the hours and time he devoted.

Alden enjoyed time with his family and friends just talking for hours on a variety of topics. He loved to listen to the old time country music, going boating and waxing a car.

Alden was a proud member of the Masons, Shriners Hospital, VFW, American Legion and many others.

He is survived by his children Dennis Crecelius and wife Dottie Meinhardt Crecelius of Baden, Md; Paulette Hill and husband Steve Hlafka of Eldersburg Md; Wayne Crecelius and wife Wendy Crecelius of Lewisberry, Pa.

Grandchildren, Christopher Crecelius and wife Michelle, Ryan Crecelius and wife Lindsay, Daniel Crecelius, Lauren Hill, Courtney Selby (Chris), Austin Crecelius, Amanda Crecelius, Peyton Crecelius and eleven great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends for a Life Celebration visitation on Monday, November 10, 2025 from 9:30am to 11:00am at Lexington Park United Methodist Church, 21760 Great Mills Rd, Lexington Park, MD 20653, with a funeral Service beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow immediately after services at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery, 22381 Three Notch Rd Lexington Park, MD 20653.
