It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Aldo Costabile, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who passed away on June 11, 2025, at the age of 89. He was born on June 4, 1936, in Castrolibero, Cosenza, Italy, to Frank Costabile and Emilia (nee Molinaro). Aldo's journey to the United States began when he turned 18 during his voyage to Ellis Island in 1954, marking the start of a life filled with love, hard work, and cherished memories.
In 1960, Aldo married the love of his life, Maria, and they built a beautiful life together, filled with laughter, love, and joy. Aldo was a dedicated family man who cherished the time spent with his wife and their two daughters, Millie (John) Costabile-O'Neil and Lisa (Frank) Onesto. He took immense pride in being a grandfather to Frankie (Megan), Massimo, and Giovanni Onesto, as well as a great-grandfather to Lia Francesca Onesto. His family was the center of his universe, and he was a guiding light in their lives, sharing wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love.
Aldo's passion for life extended beyond his family. He was a skilled hairstylist who owned his own barber shop on the southwest side of Chicago, where he touched the lives of many in the community.
Aldo found joy in a variety of hobbies and interests. He had a green thumb and loved spending time in his garden, nurturing plants and flowers that brought beauty to his life. He took great pleasure in making wine, a tradition that highlighted his Italian heritage and allowed him to share a taste of his culture with friends and family. Music was another passion of his which brought him immense joy.
In his later years, Aldo cherished the winters spent in Naples, Florida, surrounded by friends. Those days were filled with laughter, connection, and the warmth of the sun, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Aldo is preceded in death by his sister Leticia (late James) Marcuccilli, but he is survived by his loving wife, Maria; his daughters, Millie (John) Costabile-O'Neil and Lisa (Frank) Onesto; his grandchildren, Frankie(Megan), Massimo, and Giovanni Onesto; his great-granddaughter, Lia Francesca Onesto; his sisters Doris (the late Joe) Mariani and Phyllis (Joe) Costa; and numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
