Aldwin Toppin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by W.D. Lemon & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. - McDonough Chapel on Nov. 17, 2025.
It is with deep love and heartfelt remembrance that the family of Aldwin Emmanuel Toppin announces his peaceful passing on November 15th, 2025, at the age of 85. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and steadfast provider, Aldwin leaves behind a legacy built on compassion, generosity, and quiet strength.

Born in Trinidad and Tobago WI, to the late Phillippa Cooper and Herbert Toppin. Raised in the village of Blanchisseuse, he later moved into the suburbs of Laventille Port-of-Spain where he met many of his childhood friends. He was raised in a family whose values shaped his character, faith, work ethic, not to mention his great cooking skills and sense of humor. Guided by courage and determination, he later migrated to the United States, where he built a meaningful life rooted in opportunity, hard work, and deep love for his growing family.

A talented carpenter and respected businessman, Aldwin was known for his gifted hands, meticulous craftsmanship, and unwavering integrity. His work touched many lives and part of his legacy lives on in the many buildings and homes he helped renovate and construct throughout the Tri-State area, including Medgar Evers and York Colleges in NYC, where he owned MicPatcam Construction Inc., a successful contracting company which he ran for many years with his business partners Taylor and his brother Martin. The business was named after all of their children at the time.

Aldwin's kindness and magnetic personality touched even more. Whether building with tools or building up the people around him, he approached every task with patience, humility, and pride.

Aldwin is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 54 years, Brenda Toppin, his three daughters Camille, Cindy and Abigail, as well as his cherished stepson, Carlton(Carly). Among his greatest joys were his beautiful grandchildren: Jamil, Jada, Nya, Jeremy, and his newest, Zebulon, each of whom brought unmatched joy and light into his life.

He is also survived by his beloved siblings: brothers Charlie, Martin, Franklyn and Anne, as well as his late sisters Patsy and Fermin (Phyllis). His nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws span from all over the Eastern United States to the Island of Trinidad and Tobago. And throughout his life's journey, Aldwin kept his family close to his heart, no matter the distance or time.

A man of deep Catholic faith, Aldwin lived with gratitude, compassion, and a quiet spirit of service. He was always ready to offer wisdom and help without hesitation, and love without condition. He was a praying man, a generous man and a provider, who believed strongly in taking care of his loved ones. His presence was steady and comforting-a true anchor for his family and all who knew him.

After a long, full, and blessed life, Aldwin will be laid to rest in McDonough, Georgia, the place he called home during his latter years.

As we honor his memory, we celebrate a life well lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come.

We will always love you, "Daddy", "Papa", "Grandpa", "Aldwin", "Al", "Tonto", "Uncle Tont". May you rest in eternal peace.
