Ms. Alean Goodson Smith, 75 of
Cartersville, Georgia passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. (Noon) in Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 210 North Bartow Street,
Cartersville, Georgia. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement.
Alean Goodson Smith was born August 5, 1950, in
Rydal, Georgia to the late Willie Floyd Goodson and Octavia Minnie Lee Winters Goodson. She was one of eleven children of this blessed union. On Sunday, December 14, 2025, Alean was called from her earthly home to her eternal home.
She accepted Christ at a young age and became a member of Wesley Chapel in Fairmount, Georgia.
Alean was educated in the Bartow County School System, where she attended Summer Hill High School. Go Blue Devils! After graduating from high school, she worked in manufacturing later gaining employment with Mohawk Industries, and after many years of dedicated service, she retired.
She loved spending time with her family, whether it was cooking her favorite meal, Pig Feet with a side of Corn Bread, or enjoying her westerns, Lassie and The Rifle Man. She also loved watching her soap operas, The Young and The Restless along with her sister Magdalene McAfee, and they would sit and talk about them for hours on end.
Alean was one to keep it real with you at all times because she wanted nothing less than a better life for you as an individual. She had a very loving charitable heart towards family and friends. She always had an open door for those who needed a place to sleep or something to eat. Alean loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to and singing her gospel music, with "Oh It Is Jesus" being her favorite melody.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Paul Smith; siblings, Kara Washington, Martha Slocum, Gracie Mae Goodson, and Willy James Goodson.
Alean leaves to cherish memories of her; devoted children, Kelly Smith (Amy) and Delia Hill (Dwayne); grandchildren; Quinton Smith (Keiondria), Desnia Smith, Andrew Gale (Andrea), Brianna Hill, and Evan Smith; great-grandchildren, Quinton Smith Jr., Leila Smith, Oaklynd Smith, Cleo Gale, and Ayla Gale; siblings, Magadalene McAfee, Cozella Hyatt, Robert Goodson (Shirley), Bobby Lee Goodson (Virginia), Charles Goodson and Billy Joe Goodson (Felicia); best friends, Tina Blalock Kincannon and Mercy Flores; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
