Alecia D. Bearden, 59, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. She was born in Cartersville, Georgia, on January 2, 1964 to Charles Herbert Branton and the late Barbara Shook Branton. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dana Harwell.
Alecia loved her family dearly, and enjoyed her 31 years of teaching Art to over 23,000 students during her career, the most recent at Clear Creek Elementary School in Bartow County prior to her retirement in 2021. She received her teaching degree at Jacksonville State University. She loved her family dearly, and enjoyed spending time at their cabin in the mountains, gardening, tending her flowers and just being outdoors. and she was of was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her loving husband, Larry Bearden to whom she was married for 31 years; son, Andrew Bearden (Anna McCormick); daughter, Adeline Bearden; sister, Kristi Waldrop; step-mother, Cathy Branton; step-brother, Donald Craig; step-sister, Deanne Raines; brothers-in-law, Lynn Bearden (Mary) and Blake Harwell; sister-in-law, Gail Carroll (Steve); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lamar and Runette Bearden.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
Her body will lie in state from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at New Zion Baptist Church on Saturday, October 7, 2023. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Blake Harwell and Rev. Lamar Bearden officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with Rev. Gary Hibberts officiating. Pallbearers are Silas Carroll, Matthew Carroll, Jonathan Carroll, Steve Carroll, Lynn Bearden, Donald Craig, and Christian Waldrop. Honorary pallbearers are Todd Haygood, Seth Hughes, and Brett Bryant.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Zion Baptist Church, 568 Roland Hayes Parkway SW, Calhoun, Georgia 30701 in care of Cancer Basket Ministries, or to Cancer Navigators at 3 Central Plaza #415 Rome, Georgia 30161.
