Aletha Roberta Williams, a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Friend and true pillar of love and strength, peacefully passed on June 7, 2024. Born on September 3, 1933, in Harlem Hospital to her father Robert Smith and her mother Ruby Williams. Aletha was not only bright in spirit, but also with intelligence. she attended Commercial High School, where she graduated as Valedictorian of her class.
From a young age, Aletha displayed a remarkable zest for life. Growing up in Harlem, The Heart of New York City, with her brother and sister, she cultivated a deep sense of compassion and resilience that would shape her character in the years to come. Aletha was the true definition on strength. There was no obstacle that she could not overcome. She lost her father at the age of 9 and her mother at the age of 11, She raised 12 children, (7 Boys and 5 Girls), with style and grace.
Aletha could persevere through anything and did so through love and with a smile on her face. Aletha lived a life filled with love, laughter and profound kindness. She loved to play bingo and watch her favorite TV show Jeopardy. She loved spending time with her family and would do anything to put a smile on the faces of the ones that she loved. She was always welcoming with open arms and a comforting smile.
Aletha was a dedicated mother to her 12 children, Delbert, Marsha, Marty, Michael, Valerie, Robert,Vincent, Gerald, Anthony, Francine, Aletha and Nese. Aletha instilled in them values of kindness, perseverance, and the importance of family. Her role as a grandmother brought her immense joy, and she delighted in creating lasting memories with her 24 grandchildren; Cassandra, Tony, Teshina, Michael, Reese, Keon,Bashiri,Cammece, Tameka, Richard, Daewan,Tiffany, Andrew, Crystal, Sherise, Destiny, Tanisha, Joseph, Reggie, Christine, Ciarah, Rashad and many more and 16 great-grandchildren.
Aletha was known for her gentle spirit and unwavering faith. She touched the lives of many through her acts of kindness and generosity and through the grace of God lived to be 90 years old. Aletha's legacy of love and compassion will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a profound impact on her family and community a true testament to a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends and loved ones to donate to the charity of your choice in honor of her name.
