Mrs. Alether Maddox Turnipseed was born on October 14, 1943, to Ike and Ruth Maddox in Concord, Georgia. She received her formal education in the Pike County School System in Concord, Georgia.

Alether accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Fairfield AME Church in Concord, Georgia, and later joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Griffin, Georgia.

Ms. Alether Maddox was joined in holy matrimony with Mr. James Turnipseed, Sr., on January 22, 1962. Their union was blessed with 6 children as well as a bonus son.

Mrs. Alether Maddox Turnipseed was employed by Spalding Regional Hospital as a Dietician for 36 years. In her leisure time she enjoyed completing crossword puzzle books, watching Steven Seagal in her favorite movies, and the one thing close to her heart was spending time with her family.

On Monday, 26, 2026, Mrs. Alether Maddox Turnipseed's name was called, and she answered and was free from all sickness and pain. Rest now in peace and comfort, your journey has ended, battle fought, and victory won. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Ruth Maddox; her husband, James Turnipseed, Sr., her children, Carol Turnipseed-Evans, and James "Bubba" Turnipseed, Jr., her brothers, Ike Maddox, Perry Maddox, Melvin (Fannie) Maddox, and Jafus (Jimmie) Maddox, her sisters, Emma Jean (Nathaniel) Lindsey, Annie Lois (Johnnie) Odom, her in-laws, Willie Floyd (Lizzie) Turnipseed, Benney Booker, Otis Turnipseed, Bobbie Jean Odom, Johnny Mae Turnipseed, and Deontez Turnipseed.

Mrs. Alether Maddox Turnipseed leaves to cherish her memory her children, Cynthia Hammond, Rodney Turnipseed, Sonya Denise (Tyrone) Coggins, Tyrone Turnipseed, and Steve (Delores) Reynolds, 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
