Alex James Kopsian, 95, beloved husband to his devoted wife, Barbara (nee Pappas).
Loving husband to the late Mary (nee Nikolopoulos)for 34 years.
Beloved father of Christine(Dean) Galanopoulos, Betsy (Dan) Rousakis, Demetri and Peter (Clara) Kopsian.
Doting Papou to Alexandra (Jaysen) Euler, George and Stephen Galanopoulos;
George, Danielle (Josh)Krantz and Nicholas Rousakis; Alex and Maria Lynn Kopsian. Adoring "Other Papou" of Dean and Stefania Euler and Zane Krantz.
Alex was preceded in death by his siblings, Nitsa, Nick, Pota Stantos, Katina Mikalis and John Kopsian.
Survived by his caring sister Vasio(Tom) Arvanites and dear sister-in-law Christine Kopsian.
Dear brother-in-law to Peter (the late Mary) Pappas and the late Gust Nikolopoulos.
Loving cousin, uncle, Godfather and friend to many.
Alex was born in the mountains of Georgitsti, Sparta on June 9, 1928 to the late James and Marigoula Kopsian. He emigrated to America at 18 years old and lived in Chicago at Milwaukee, Grand and Halsted. He served in the Armed Forces at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri as a chef during the Korean War.
Alex was the proprietor of Alex's Standard Station on Addison and Western Avenues for 40 years and co-owner of Roy's Alignment with his son, Demetri, and beloved brother John.
He was past president of Annunciation Cathedral/St. Demetrios Church where he used his culinary skills to make the best souvlakia in the history of Greek festivals.
As proud as he was of his involvement in his church community, Alex was especially proud of being a member of AHEPA Shoreline 380. He loved the smokers and Wednesday night bowling. His one time perfect score of 300 was one of his proudest moments.
He loved to dance and could play the leaf that sounded like a musical instrument to the amazement of everyone who heard him.
We would like to offer a special thanks to the Springs of Vernon Hills for taking such good care of our Dad.
May God bless and keep him and wrap His arms around him always.

Our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to the Kopsian family. I never met Alex but heard of the great times and stories of Alex from my late father Peter Hantgos when they lived in Chicago at Milwaukee, Halsted and Grand in the late 1940s & early 50s. He was generous and so helpful to my father and family. I share the photo of Alex to celebrate Alex's life and say thank you. Rest in peace.

Dear Uncle Alex,
He was so full of life, warmth, and love. Koukla... That´s how he oftened addressed me and with a hug. I remember the Greek fests at Saint Demetrios, and him cooking behind the grill. Having been married there, and Peter baptized there, I thought of uncle Alex and his connection with the church dear to my heart.. I will miss his conversations and stories. May his memory be eternal. We love you, uncle Alex. We know you´ll be watching over us.
