Victor Orozco Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 15, 2025.
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Victor Hugo Orozco Rivera, 85, of Des Plaines. He passed away on Friday June 20th after a long battle with prostate cancer. Victor (Papi Hugo) was born on December 23, 1939, to Maria Luisa and Israel Orozco in La Paz, Bolivia. He was a devoted husband to Maria and loving father to Fatima and Henry.

After more than a 20-year career in education as a teacher in Bolivia, he worked until retirement for Hart Schaffner Marx - an American suit manufacturer. This was a fortuitous event as he felt as comfortable wearing a three-piece suit as we do in jeans and a t-shirt. Friends described him as kind and thoughtful, and a true gentleman. He enjoyed playing guitar and watching sports. He had a great sense of humor, and he was always loving and respectful to family and friends.

After retirement, he spent his time visiting Bolivia, where he was able to share precious moments with his family and friends. He got reacquainted with his beautiful city of La Paz and its suburbs. He enjoyed telling stories and playing with his great-grandchild.

Victor was predeceased by his parents Israel and Maria Luisa, sisters Cora and Elsa, brothers Waldo and Rimac. He is survived by his brother Jose and wife Maria (Lucha); daughter Fatima and son Henry; grandchildren Cynthia, Adam and Andrew; great-grandchild Frankie and many loved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday July 26, 2025, from 10:30am to 11:30am at St. Emily Church, 1400 E. Central Rd., Mt. Prospect, IL 60056.
