Longtime Indian Valley resident Alex Taddei passed from this life peacefully in his sleep, Friday morning November 4th, 2005 at his residence outside of Greenville, CA. Alex was born September 19, 1925 to Swiss immigrants Innocente and Delfina Taddei in Vina, California. At the age of four the family relocated to Engle Mine via the old Humbug Road and later to Pecks Valley area of Indian Valley where he was raised and educated. Alex joined the military following his junior year of high school and served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army from 1944-1946. A member of the 80th Infantry Division he participated in the European Campaign and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in Luxembourg on January 15th, 1945. Alex returned to Indian Valley to work in the woods before starting a fifteen year career with the Plumas County Road Department as a heavy equipment mechanic retiring in 1990. Alex is a longtime member of the Greenville Post of the VFW and found great pleasure in spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing. He will be remembered by many in the area for his meticulously maintained apple orchard and the beautiful fruit he tended. Alex is survived by his loving and caring family to include his son and daughter-in-law; Rick and Debbie Taddei of Greenville, CA, son; Glenn Taddei of Greenville, CA, brothers; Andrew, Emil and Marion all of Greenville, CA, grandchildren, Angie, Ronnie and Rikki, who was so instrumental is his care during his final months. He was anxiously expecting his first great grandchild. Alex is preceded in death by his wife; Mary in 1999 and one sister. A time of vistitation and sharing will take place Thursday morning November 10th, 2005 and those who wish may call at the Fehrman Mortuary Chapel Greenville from 10:00AM to 11:30AM. A celebration of his life to include military honors will take place at the graveside located in the Greenville District Cemetery at 1:00PM Thursday November 10th, 2005. An opportunity to express your condolences to the family along with signing the memorial guest register is available online at www.fehrmanmortuary.com. The family suggests any remembrances in Alex's memory be made to either the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity of the donors choice c/o Fehrman Mortuary and Crematory P.O.
