Alexander "Kaz" Kaszas, 79, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Friday, July 18, 2025.

Kaz was born on August 20, 1945, in Eger, Hungary, to the late Sandor and Anna Kaszas. As a Hungarian refugee, Kaz came to the United States in 1956. Soon after high school, Kaz entered the United State Marine Corps. Following the military Kaz went on to work as a line man for the Carteret County utility company for 15 years.

In 1985, his love for the arts inspired him to open Windward Gallery on the Morehead City waterfront where he and his late wife, Nancy, owned and operated the business for 25 years until their retirement. He was a very successful and well-known artist, who enjoyed his cigars and playing chess.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his sons, Janos “JT” Kaszas (Kim) of Havelock, NC and Zoltan Kaszas (Kayleen) of Winchester, VA; brother, Louie Kaszas; sister, Gabi Kaszas; and grandchildren, Camila, Ella, Lily, Eva, and Oliva Kaszas.

In addition to his parents, Kaz was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Valentine Kaszas and son, Sandor Kaszas.

Family and friends are welcome to submit online condolences at www.mundenfuneralhome.net.
