Not sure what to say?

I only got to share a brief amount of time with him, but he’s one of the sweetest men on this planet and he will be missed very much.
Tina, my heart goes out to you, you’re an amazing woman who had an even more amazing son and I’m so sorry about everything.

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.
Tina- I am so so sorry. Praying for comfort for your whole family.

Alexander's Obituary

Alexander “Alex” Kleitz, 24, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Alex had been bravely fighting a serious infection that led to multiple organ failure, which ultimately took his life.

Alex was born on June 25, 2001, at Avera Hospital to Tina (Kleitz) Nordstrom and Fredrick Kleitz. With his beautiful hazel eyes and adventurous spirit, Alex was ready to take on the world. He spent most of his life in San Antonio, Texas, before returning home to Sioux Falls to be close to family. A 2019 graduate of Tom C. Clark High School in San Antonio, Alex earned numerous awards on the debate team and loved to engage anyone in a lively discussion about life or politics.

Alex found great joy and purpose working in the food and restaurant industry. Most recently, he began a new career path as a customer service manager at Hy-Vee. Known for his infectious smile and quick wit, Alex made every day count. His mission in life was simple—make people laugh. Whether through a silly face or a terrible joke, he considered it a success if he could make you smile. Alex loved to cook and had a knack for feeding people, whether at work or through his late-night kitchen experiments.

Those who knew Alex describe him as a genuinely kind soul who lived life on his own terms. He touched countless hearts and built lifelong friendships along the way. Alex was deeply proud of and devoted to his family. To know Alex was to know laughter, warmth, and compassion. He had an enormous heart for the underdog and would literally give the shirt off his back to someone in need—even in the pouring rain.

A passionate sports fan, Alex cheered fiercely for the New Orleans Saints and the Texas Longhorns. Many Sundays were spent watching games, shouting at the TV, and celebrating every touchdown as if he were right there on the field. He also loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing from a dock on a quiet day.

Alex’s interests were wide-ranging—he loved jamming out to 80s rock, watching the latest Marvel movies, and staying connected with friends across Sioux Falls and San Antonio through Facebook, Snapchat, and Xbox gaming. One of his favorite memories was attending a Jelly Roll concert with his mom two years ago—a night he often reminisced about with joy.

Alex’s beloved pet “son,” Malcom, has found his forever home with Alex’s loving sister Molli, where he now has plenty of furry siblings to play with and pester.

Alex is survived by his mother and stepfather, Tina and Eric Nordstrom of Sioux Falls; his sister, Molli Kleitz, and David Zuback of Brandon; stepsister Megan Nordstrom of Sioux Falls; Ben and Katie Nordstrom of Sioux City, Iowa; and Ashley and Tyler Laduke of Red Wing, Minnesota. He is also survived by his grandparents, Donald and Linda Conzemius of Lennox, South Dakota, paternal grandmother, Patricia Hearne of Las Vegas Nevada; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick Kleitz; maternal great-grandparents, August and Dorothy Eilers;  Tony and Martha Conzemius, and paternal grandparent, Ralph Kleitz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Visitation with the family will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow.
