Alex Kuchar of NE Tacoma, peacefully passed away on April 7, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones after a difficult battle with cancer. Alex was the oldest of 3 children born to Edward Kuchar and Olga Pyszczuk, in New York, New York. He was raised in Queens NY graduating from Francis Lewis High School in 1975. Alex studied at Syracuse University, NY, ultimately earning a Master's in Wood Science. He loved swimming, fishing and hunting on the family property in Hunter, NY. He is and always will be a true New Yorker through and through. He loved his NY Yankees more than anything, and his NY Giants.
After college, Alex came to the great Pacific Northwest to start a 23-year career with American Plywood Association finding his way to Quality Assurance Director. In 2003, he began a 19-year career with Weyerhaeuser as OSB Technical Manager. He loved playing golf and traveling to Maui, HI and Depoe Bay, OR.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edward.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl, mother Olga, sister Christine Hopkins (Don), brother Andrew, daughter Laura Dow (Chris), son Anthony, step-son Sean Loftus (Kjerstine), step daughter Jamie Prak (Shane Grey) and 8 beautiful grandchildren whom he all deeply loved. A sincere, heart-felt thank you to Tacoma General ICU Team for all their undying, specialized care and compassion. Also, a heart-felt thank you to Multicare Hospice and nurse Jamie Prak - you made it possible for us to bring him home and surround him with his loving family.
