Edward Stanley Lindsley October 3, 1930 – February 1, 2026

Edward Stanley Lindsley, 95, of University Place, Washington, peacefully passed away on February 1, 2026.

Ed was born on October 3, 1930, in Seattle, Washington, to Hazen and Marjorie Lindsley. He attended Franklin High School and later the University of Washington.

Ed was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, having served during the Korean War. He held the rank of Staff Sergeant and was stationed in Guam, the Philippines, Japan, and at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

He worked for several decades as an electrician and later operated his own security system business. Ed was passionate about his work and took great pride in using his skills and experience to help others.

In 1956, Ed married Carol Myers, and together they raised eight children: Larry, Joanne, Curtis, Warren, Sheri, Tyler, Lia, and Charity.

Ed had a lifelong passion for music and was a devoted fan of Mel Tormé and Frank Sinatra. An accomplished ballroom dance instructor, he taught for many decades. He also enjoyed singing as a tenor in vocal groups, including a barbershop quartet and the New Dawn Singers.

He had a gift for bringing people together, organizing events and community festivals, and served for several years on a community board in South Seattle (Skyway).

Ed was an enthusiastic sports fan who enjoyed watching his hometown teams, the Seattle Mariners and the Seattle Seahawks. He was also fond of classic westerns, documentaries, and films about World War II and the Korean War.

A devoted man of faith, Ed was actively involved in his church and gave generously of his time in service to its ministries.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Hazen and Marjorie Lindsley; his sister, Shirley Penix; his sons, Larry Lindsley (Kathy) and Warren Lindsley; and his daughter, Charity Lindsley.

He is survived by his sisters, Sheila Olsen and Kathy Yosinoff; his children, Joanne Marr (Kirk), Sheri La Macchia (Joe), Lia Di Martini, Curtis Lindsley (Tracy), and Tyler Lindsley; and his many grandchildren: Spencer Lindsley (Diana), Grace Lindsley, Angela Marr, Shelley Marr, Nicholas Marr, Cameron Marr, Kelsie Marr, Stephanie Hankemeier (Nick), Luke Lindsley (Luisa), Chet Wagster (Betsy), Crystal Phillips (Brandon), Nicole Blackford (Christina), Joseph La Macchia (Madison), Tasha Petersen (Jessica), Ben Medeiros (Cass), and Elise Blendheim, as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

A Veteran Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th Street, Kent, WA 98042. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Kent United Methodist Church, 11010 SE 248th Street, Kent, WA 98042.
